- Microsoft welcomes you to the
-
- ================================
- MS Home CD MultiLingua Sampler
- ================================
-
- This CD-ROM is useful for customers to run on their own computers
- or for retail stores to display on their computers. It can be run
- from the CD-ROM or from the hard drive. If running from the hard drive,
- you must copy the appropriate language sampler from the CD and retain
- the directory naming conventions (i.e., the English sampler must be at
- the root of the hard drive in a directory titled "English" as found
- on the CD.)
-
-
- Cycling
- --------
-
- This software is designed to be interactive. However, many retail
- stores prefer to run the software from the hard drive instead of the
- CD-ROM and cycle through the information automatically.
-
- After Choosing a Language, if the introductory screen in an
- individual language Sampler (with the title CD Sampler) is left
- idle for a period of time (by default, 120 seconds), it will begin
- cycling through the product information pages. If running from a
- hard drive (i.e. you have copied the contents of that language to
- the hard disk), you can adjust this by changing the setting in the
-
- \[language]\sampler\sampler.ini file under:
-
- Reseller=1
- IdleTime=12
-
- (In this example shown 12 means 120 seconds.)
-
- Running a demo or even clicking or moving the mouse will restart
- the countdown before it will start cycling again.
-
- If you run the Sampler's Help screen, this idle cycling will be
- turned off, in order to allow you to read the Help file without
- interruption. When you are finished with Help, you will need to
- minimize the Sampler and maximize it in order to restart the idle
- cycling feature.

- Configuration Notes
- -------------------
-
- For optimal performance, please make sure your system conforms to
- the following guidelines:
-
-
- Screen Savers
-
- Please disable all screen savers. The Windows 95 Demo will run
- better when screen savers are not active.
-
-
- Running Other Applications
-
- Please close all other applications. The demo runs best when no
- other applications are open. Also, do not switch tasks using Alt-
- Tab or the Task Manager when running the demo. Exit the demo
- using the 'Exit' button before switching to another application.
-
-
- Monitor Settings
-
- We recommend setting the monitor to 256 colors. The demo will not
- operate properly with other color settings.
-
-
- Video Cards
-
- Macromedia Director, used to build the autodemos, requires video
- software drivers and hardware that fully support Windows 3.1
- standards. Many video systems, but not all, have been tested and
- found to be compatible with Director during authoring and
- playback. We recommend installing the latest available video ROM
- and software.
-
-
- Display or Performance Problems
-
- If you experience difficulties running a demo or the display; try
- changing your video monitor's settings to 640 x 480 resolution
- with the color depth set to 8 bit (256 colors).
-
- If you still encounter problems, contact the hardware manufacturer
- to find out if the problem has been addressed with an updated
- driver.
